First Guard Pest Control

Fleas

Fleas are small, jumping parasites that feed on the blood of pets and humans. While they often arrive on cats and dogs, they can quickly spread throughout a home once established.

Flea eggs fall off the host animal into carpets, bedding, and upholstery, where they hatch into larvae before developing into adult fleas. This lifecycle means treating only the pet is rarely enough to clear an infestation.

Bites typically appear as small, itchy red spots, often around ankles and lower legs. Fleas can remain dormant in empty properties for months, reactivating when they sense warmth and movement.

Treatment

Treatment details coming soon.

Flea infestations require a thorough, whole-house approach. We use a water-based insecticide that is carefully applied to carpets, floors, and soft furnishings where fleas and their eggs hide—often deep in fibres or "sacks" (cocoons) that protect the developing fleas. Because fleas can emerge from these protective cocoons long after the initial spray, multiple treatments are often necessary to ensure all fleas are eliminated as they hatch out. This comprehensive method ensures the entire property is treated to break the flea lifecycle and fully resolve the problem.
